DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL STUDIES

ABOUT

The General Studies (GST) Department at the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja was established as a vital academic unit to support the university’s commitment to producing well-rounded graduates. Rooted in the university’s mission to produce changemakers in the continent, the Department plays a key role in broadening students’ understanding of the social, cultural, and natural environments in which they live and work.

Through the integration of carefully designed general studies courses with students’ core areas of specialization, the Department enhances their preparedness for societal participation and leadership. In line with this vision, the GST Department also focuses on developing students’ competence in the effective use of the English language as a tool for academic success, professional communication, and lifelong learning.
