AUST gets a new President

Prof. H. InyangProf. Inyang was recently appointed President of the African University of Science and Technology (AUST) based in Abuja, Nigeria. Prof. Inyang has made more than two decades of technical and policy contributions to regional and global sustainable development as an educator/administrator, researcher, government official and corporate leader.

Students take Graduate Admissions Test
2009 Graduate Admissions Test

AUST received a record number of applicants this year, making the selection very competitive. An Admissions Committee was established by the Actg. President, Dr. Karl Voltaire and included:

15 million Naira Grant

AUST has been awarded a 15 million Naira grant by GT Bank. This grant will go towards the construction of the future Mathematics Institute on the AUST campus. The bank is also featured on our list of distinguished sponsors & partners.

ICTP strengthens ties with Africa

MoU signed with AUST

ICTP and the African University of Science and Technology (AUST) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish active collaboration in training activities. Under the agreement, ICTP will set aside up to two positions in its Sandwich Ph.D. programme for qualified AUST students, invite two qualified physics Masters Degree students from AUST to work on their thesis at ICTP, organise joint schools or colleges on topical subjects, and assist with the delivery of physics courses at AUST.

Partnership with JNCASR

The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in Jakkur, India is offering two full scholarships for students in the Material Sciences program. These students will be conducting 6 to 12 month research at the institute in India for the Master theses.

AUST is now conducting the selection process, to determine the two Materials Sciences students, who will be receiving the JNCASR scholarships.

Visit to AfDB by the CEO

Our CEO recently returned from his visit to the African Development Bank in Tunisia, where the ongoing negotiations with the AfDB were held. The talks revolved around the prospective grant to the university by the AfDB.

10 Million Naira Grant from Zenith Bank plc

AUST has been awarded a 10 Million Naira grant by Zenith Bank plc. On the Abuja campus, the lecture hall Zenith Bank Hall has been named in honour of Zenith Bank. The bank is also featured on our list of distinguished sponsors & partners.

AUST receives World Bank DGF Grant

Notably, AUST has received a $500,000 World Bank DGF grant towards the furthering of our goal to achieve an academic hub in Africa for the enlightenment and development of Africa's future scientists and engineers.

Furthermore, AUST is also in negotiations with the African Development Bank regarding a $10 million grant to the university here in Abuja.

University Partnership programmes

Three of AUST's students have been selected to complete their MSc programs
at Auburn University (Alabama, U.S.) in June 2009. The Memorandum of Understanding
is in the process of being finalized, and it will also include a future joint PhD program by Auburn University and the African University of Science and Technology.
