AUST, FRSC PARTNER ON RESEARCH AND HUMAN CAPACITY BUILDING
The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) are set to collaborate on research, human capacity building, and efficient road transportation management. The Acting President of AUST, Professor Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS disclosed this during a courtesy call on the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi in his office in Abuja.
In his speech, the Acting President informed the Corps Marshal that the university currently offers MSc and Ph.D. programs in different areas of Science, Engineering, and Management, with students from different parts of Africa. These are aimed at providing high level manpower to ensure Africa will in future have strong institutions.
According to him, no organization strives without development in their research and human capacity building, maintaining that the two institutions would benefit a lot when the modalities for the collaboration in these and other areas of collaborations would have been mapped out.
He enjoined the FRSC boss to sponsor some of its personnel in some of the ongoing short courses at AUST, promising that a considerable discount would be given to the sponsored officers.
In his response, the FRSC boss praised the efforts of the acting president of AUST in repositioning the pan African university promising to partner with AUST in those areas identified as key to the two organizations growth.
He promised to return the visit of the AUST’s acting President at a date to be determined later.
Before the interaction with the Corps Marshal, the AUST team was taken through a number of technology-driven programs and equipment of the FRSC. These include National Call Center, Data center, Traffic Situation Room, Traffic Radio Station, and the Training Rooms.
AUST Acting President was accompanied on the courtesy call by the Director, Academic Planning, Dr. Abdulhakeem Bello, Prince Obioha Atulomah, Head, Media Services/PR, Mr. Solomon Ibrahim, Personal Assistant to the Acting President and Ms. Cynthia Ene Ogbe, Marketing consultant, AUST while the FRSC boss had the Deputy Corps Marshal Ojeme Ewhnijiakpor, Sussan Adindu, Isa Kazeem, Stella Uchendu and other top officers on his side to welcome the AUST team.
