AUST STUDENT IS AMONG “AFRICA’S MOST OUTSTANDING EMERGING WOMEN LEADERS”

We are very proud to share with the AUST community a recent announcement informing Miss Sandra Musu Jusu, a native of Sierra Leone, currently one of our M.Sc. students in Material Science and Engineering that she has been selected to be a MILEAD (Moremi Initiative Leadership and Empowerment Development) 2017 Fellow.
AUST STUDENT IS AMONG “AFRICA’S MOST OUTSTANDING EMERGING WOMEN LEADERS”

Miss Sandra Musu Jusu,

This is an award which follows a competitive global selection process to identify young women who show the greatest potential to become leaders and trail blazers in ways that will transform society at large, “…based on their outstanding leadership promise, community service accomplishments, and commitment to the advancement of women in Africa. Sandra has therefore been identified as “one of Africa’s most promising young women leaders”. She will therefore be part of a group of young women between the ages of 19 and 25, representing 26 African countries and the African diaspora, selected from over 2 500 applicants representing 45 countries, who will travel to Accra Ghana soon, to be inducted and participate in a 3-week “Leadership Institute” during the period 11 July-2 August,2017. A special commendation from the selection committee summarises the significance of this award when it notes that:

This cohort of exceptional African leaders was selected to join the powerful MILEAD Fellows network, not only for their outstanding leadership achievements and service, but also because they have the moral force of character to lead and transform the great continent of Africa. Africa’s future will be brighter and better for the remarkable power of their leadership...”
