Eligibility for Admission
Since AUST currently offers post-graduate programs only, prospective applicants should already have an appropriate Bachelor’s degree. At a minimum, applicants must have a Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Computational Sciences, Engineering or Physical Science from a recognized university with a minimum of Upper Second Class Honours classification or a GPA of at least 3.5.
Candidates from francophone countries should have a “Maitrise” degree “avec mention bien” or, better still “avec mention très bien”, and have an acceptable level of proficiency in English.
In summary, minimum admission requirements must fall within one of the conditions stated below:
- 1st Class Honours
- Strong Upper Second (2:1 Honours)
- Magna summa cum laude (in the American system)
- Summa cum laude (in the American system)
- Maitrise “avec mention très bien” preferred but “avec mention bien” (in the French system) may be considered
In addition to good preparatory Mathematics courses, students are expected to have knowledge of a modern programming language (e.g. Java, C, C++, and Computer Operating Systems)
