Background:

The African University of Science and Technology in Abuja (AUST-Abuja) is an accredited university, set up in 2007 by the Nelson Mandela Institution for Knowledge Building and the Advancement of Science and Technology in Sub-Saharan Africa (NMI.Inc). It is the the first institute of the African Institute Science and Technology (AIST) future network of science and technology higher education campuses and smaller affiliated centers of excellence to be located throughout Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The AUST Abuja aims to be a world class Technology University to help train and retain in Africa top level scientists and Engineers.

AUST Abuja is located in the Abuja Technology village, on a 250 ha (1,000acres) campus. At full capacity, the campus will have about 4,500 undergraduate students and 1,000 graduates (Master’s and doctoral) students and about 250 full-time faculty members. To enable the rapid start-up of the first academic year, the University has developed and is occupying only 5 hectares (see www.aust.edu.ng) of its land that now constitutes the take-off campus. The features of the campus include modern classrooms, computer rooms, residences (both students and faculty), laboratories (in the process of being equipped), cafeteria, sports and leisure facilities (basketball, soccer, gym, tennis and pool), etc...

AUST is seeking a Programming Tutor.

Description:
As a successful candidate you will be teaching Java and C++ to our Masters students. These tutorials are scheduled for 2 to 3 sessions per week, at 2 to 3 hours per session.

Requirements:

• The candidate must be highly proficient in Java and C++.
• Additional programming skills are an advantage.
• Competency in open-source technologies and Linux-based IDEs for the above-mentioned programming languages.
